Session description: This is an introductory workshop about the pillars of trauma-informed practice and how to build trauma-informed approaches into your everyday life and work, and how to support yourself and others if you experience vicarious trauma. This session will offer general life skills to use when interacting with other people, no matter your job, experiences or background.

Learning objectives:

• -Demonstrate an understanding of what it means to be “trauma-informed.”
• -Recognize the various origins of trauma.
• -Understand the importance of language as it relates to trauma-informed practice.
• -Build skill in several pillars of trauma-informed care that are transferable to participants’ work and lives.
• -Consider wellness strategies for trauma-informed workplaces.
