The St. John’s Status of Women Council and Women’s Centre would like to advise women that while our services may look a little different right now, we are very much here for you.
We know there is uncertainty and things are hard. We also know we’ve never met a woman who hasn’t done hard. We see you. We see your strength. We are available to connect with and support women in St. John’s and surrounding areas.
There is a great deal of evidence that during times of economic hardship and societal stress, rates of domestic violence increase. We specialize in programming for women who have experienced domestic violence, and believe these services are more important now than ever.
We have individual support available by phone Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 4:30. As well, our Right Here, Right Now, walk-in counselling service is now a phone-in counselling service. You can call Tuesdays 12-7 and Wednesdays 12-5. No appointment needed. Totally anonymous and confidential.
This program is the only woman-centered, trauma-informed single session model in Canada. We respond to your needs, on your terms. Any woman can call to talk about any issue that’s important to her.
To access these services, please call 709-753-0220 or email reception@sjwomenscentre.ca. We look forward to connecting with you.
