We are hiring for the coordinator of an exciting new project! We have received valuable funding from the NL Federation of Labour to begin a project aimed at increasing not only our organizational capacity, but the capacity of service providers, workplaces, and the general population in understanding and responding to those who experience gender-based violence. We are searching for a coordiantor to create and deliver an online program that addresses and empowers friends, families, co-workers and community members to respond to women experiencing domestic violence in woman-centered, trauma-informed ways.
Through a community consultation process, the coordinator will lead our team to develop and test online material to make sure that it meets the needs of different audiences: Indigenous people, people of colour, newcomers, members of LGBTQ2S+ communities, and folks with different abilities and literacy levels. We will also work to ensure that all materials can be accessed by those who are deaf and visually-impaired, two groups often left out of traditional service offerings. By using plain language and straightforward concepts, the online Ecourse will:
• describe the dynamics and common tactics that characterize gender-based
• provide an overview of the scope and impact on individuals, families,
communities and society,
• explore the underlying factors that allow gender-based violence to exist,
• offer insight into the various risks and choices that survivors face,
• address common questions related to gender-based violence, and
• share how to be part of the solution
The course will encompass skill building, reflection questions, videos and activities that help users recognize and challenge their prejudices and develop ways of understanding how GBV impacts people. Users will walk away with concrete tools that can help in any situation where GBV may be/has been present.
If you are passionate about supporting women who have experienced gender-based violence, love community building and would like to be part of a feminist organization, please see the job ad attached. Resumes with cover letters should be e-mailed to firstname.lastname@example.org by 4pm on Sunday, July 26.
